We started Bergie’s because we saw a need for a healthy, fresh catering option in Piatt County.
The backstory – In my previous corporate life I was constantly on the road going to radio control model airplane events. Three and four days at a time. The food at these events was always the same; dried out hamburgers and shriveled up hot dogs. Linda and I decided that we could do better for the locally hosted events.
We developed different menus that featured our own slow roasted pork sandwiches, Korean Beef tacos, fresh salads, home made brownies, etc. All to support our goal of providing memorable food to our guests. And it worked, and worked well.
We started with simple lunches, and then added Saturday night banquets for up to 75 people, all cooked off site and finished on site with Weber kettle grills and other gas fired appliances. We were featuring a choice of 3-4 entree’s, from flank steak to pork roast, chicken thighs and sausages. We always had our smashed potatoes, fresh corn on the cob and added later some great flash seared asparagus with shallots and a surprise dessert for everyone.
So while Bergie’s in its current form may be new to our customers, our philosophy and experience providing outstanding food and service stretches for almost a decade. We hope you’ll join us in our next one.
